What is ductile iron?

2024-12-07

Ductile iron is a high-strength cast iron material containing spheroidal graphite. It has the characteristics of strength, toughness, wear resistance, heat resistance and good shock absorption. It is mainly used in various power machinery crankshafts, camshafts, connecting shafts, connecting rods, gears, clutch plates, hydraulic cylinders and other parts. Ductile iron is mainly obtained by spheroidizing and inoculating spheroidal graphite, which can effectively improve the mechanical properties of cast iron and obtain higher strength than carbon steel.
