The process of Silica Sol Investment Casting generally includes the following steps:
Wax model making: First, a wax model is made using precision wax model making equipment according to the product drawings or three-dimensional models. These wax models usually have the same shape and size as the final product, but the material is fusible wax.
Sanding and crusting: The wax model is immersed in a ceramic slurry containing silica sol, and a solid ceramic shell layer is formed through multiple dipping and drying. This shell layer will serve as a casting to protect the wax model from damage when it melts at high temperatures.
Dewaxing and baking: The wax model with a ceramic shell layer is placed in steam or hot water to melt and flow out, leaving a hollow ceramic cavity. The ceramic cavity is then baked to remove moisture and residues in it and improve its strength and stability.
Pouring and cooling: The molten metal is poured into the baked ceramic cavity, and the casting is formed after the metal liquid cools and solidifies. Since the ceramic cavity has high precision and high stability, it can ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the casting.
Cleaning and post-processing: remove the ceramic shell and other impurities on the surface of the casting, and perform post-processing processes such as grinding and polishing on the casting to improve its appearance quality and performance.
